article about mastering for independant producers, our engineer Joe
provided them with some words of wisdom regarding preparing your mix
for a mastering session.

Delivery Requirements
It's important to get a good quality final master that you export the audio from your DAW correctly:
Firstly, take all effects on the master bus off unless creative effects are used and this has been discussed with us beforehand. This includes the "Mastering Combinator Suite" in Reason and the limiter on Fruity Loops which is left on by default.
The audio export must not be clipping, and allow 3dB atleast of headroom (space between clipping and the highest peak in your audio).
The audio should be exported at 24 bit 44.1khz Wave audio or Aiff, if this isn't possible, please email us first. No MP3s or other lossy audio(not even 320s) can be used for mastering purposes. Please do not add dither to the signal, this is best left to us.
If you require fades or have any edits wanting to be done to the entire track, please include this in your email to us, it is best to leave the tops and tails of the track in this case.
