WHat is mastering?
"Mastering" is the
final stage of audio production. It's where the project becomes a
product. What it involves depends on the format required, the way it's
delivered and the artists intentions. It often involves compiling the
CD, sorting any fades/adjustments, making the music louder, balancing
the tone and the stereo image. Mastering is NOT mixing, it is the
subsequent stage, and in an ideal scenario, the mastering engineer
works closely with the mix engineer, artist and producer to make sure
the final product sounds as good as it can!
The mastering process is tailored to the format and purpose of the music. We only use high quality (low error) CDrs for your master so you can have confidence your masters will stay sounding as great as they were when they left the studio. At Subsequent Mastering we don't cut vinyl masters, but we can provide a 24 bit digital master to be cut at a manufacturing plant.
